François Vachon is an Associate Professor at the School of Psychology, Université Laval, since 2011. Specialized in basic and applied cognitive science, his research interests include the cognitive psychology of attention and multitasking. His research programme focuses on the mechanisms of the voluntary (control) and involuntary (distraction) deployment of attention using a combination of behavioral, oculometric, and psychophysiological (ERPs) measures. Dr. Vachon’s work in Co-DOT lab is concerned with the cognitive limitations (e.g., attention, memory, decision making) of the human operator placed in complex dynamic situations (e.g., crisis management, security surveillance, aviation) as well as with the integration of technological solutions aiming at optimizing performance and reducing errors.
