Cognition and Disinformation

Project
Production and reception of (mis)information: The resilience of attitude toward vaccination

Summary
In the current pandemic context, information overload creates a complex environment in which consumers - as well as information producers and disseminators - are vulnerable to decision bias and misinformation. Taking into account cognitive, affective and social dimensions, this interdisciplinary research program focuses on misinformation in the processing of information related to public health policies (e.g., adherence to preventive measures, vaccination policies, alternative treatments to vaccines, etc.) implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By adopting an integrated empirical approach, the project aim to understand the role of misinformation in an « infodemic » context in order to better measure its impact on decision-making. With this understanding, we will be able to propose solutions that promote the development of future-oriented cross-disciplinary skills, enabling individuals to comprehend and manage misinformation from complex environments more effectively.
